In the novel "Catcher in the Rye" the main character Holden Caulfield childhood impacts the novel
as a whole in a negative way. It starts when Holden is kicked out of school and he starts living freely
in New York city without informing his parents. Holden attacked his old schoolmate Stradlater
because he take out a girl he likes Jane Gallagher. Holden's childhood mainly effects his sister
Phoebe. Holden tells her that he got kicked out of school and she is very upset at him. Holden also
tells her that he is running away and she wants to come even though Holden refuses to let her come with him. Holden never ends up running away and he stays with his sister. Eventually Holden goes to
a mental hospital. Holden's childhood effected people around him in a negative and got him kicked
out of a school then later into a mental hospital.
This is a great example because the character truly had a difficult childhood and it really affects his future.
